Job summary

FlexSchool, Inc. is seeking a School Counselor to provide ongoing support to students with classroom push-in and crisis management.

The role includes maintaining an open support room for emotional regulation and problem-solving, and conducting IEP-mandated counseling sessions as needed. You will collaborate with admissions, Head of School, and learning specialists to evaluate student applications and provide recommendations, attend meetings, and participate in staff trainings while maintaining

Qualifications

• Masters degree in School Counseling or related field preferred.
• 2+ years experience in schools preferred.
• Experience with gifted and/or Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with CBT, DBT, Collaborative and Proactive Solutions, PBIS.

School Counselor

What You'll Do:

• Provide ongoing support to students throughout the day through classroom push-in and as-needed crisis management
• Maintain an open "support room" (office) for students to come to as needed throughout the day for emotional regulation and problem-solving
• Provide IEP mandated individual counseling as needed
• Attend IEP meetings as needed
• Conduct counseling consultations with clinicians of prospective students. Collaborate with the admissions team, Head of School, and learning specialist to evaluate student applications and make recommendations
• Maintain frequent communication with families and outside service providers to ensure that student needs are being met
• Run weekly small group counseling sessions.
• Teach weekly and daily health classes using a social-emotional lens based on the needs of the campus
• Write and consistently update student learning profiles based on prior evaluations
• Attend and sometimes lead staff training and student articulation meetings.
• Communicate significant student concerns to the Head of School and collaborate on developing and implementing appropriate action/behavior plans when necessary
• Meet with teachers as needed to discuss executive functioning and classroom management strategies
• Complete social emotional standard ratings and comments for report cards, each trimester
• Supervise interns if applicable

Schedule & Expectations

• On campus approximately 7:45 AM – 4:00 PM
• This is a academic year position, not 12 months
• Participation in key school events and professional activities throughout the year
