Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking a dependable Cook to prepare nutritious, family-style meals for children and staff in Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

This role offers a Monday–Friday 6:30am-2:30pm schedule in Monroe, NC, with a starting rate of $13.16 per hour and a focus on food safety and quality in a mission-driven environment. Ideal candidates will have at least six months of related food service experience, Serve Safe certification within six months, and the

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months to one year of related food service experience preferred.
• Serve Safe Certification required within six months of employment.
• Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.

Bring your food-service experience to a role where every meal supports a child’s growth and learning. UCCA is seeking a dependable Cook to prepare nutritious, family-style meals for children and staff in our Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

Starting Rate: $13.16 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday 6:30am-2:30pm (40 hours/week)

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand for extended periods, operate kitchen equipment safely, lift food and kitchen supplies up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
