Job summary

DSI Security Services is expanding its Campus Security Officer team in the Coconut Grove, FL area to support a safe learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The role calls for strong situational awareness and professional, customer-focused service. Candidates should have a Florida Class D license, valid driver’s license, and the ability to patrol campuses under varying conditions. Compensation starts at $18.00 per hour with paid training and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State of Florida Class D Security License (required).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Reliable transportation and means of communication.
• 5 years of security or law enforcement experience preferred (child/youth experience a plus).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform routine foot patrols, mobile patrols, lifting, and work in all weather conditions.
• Must pass all background checks and drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, parents, and visitors.
• Provide general security services per client requirements and post orders.
• Remain visible to deter misconduct and promote campus safety.
• Respond to emergencies (fights, medical, etc.).
• Observe, report hazards, incidents, and suspicious activity.
• Interact professionally with students, staff, visitors, and the public.
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and security personnel.
• Remain at assigned post until relieved.
• Complete required reports and documentation accurately and timely.
• Comply with policies, post instructions, and Code of Ethics.
• Participate in training and ongoing security education.
• Present a professional appearance and conduct at all times.

The Campus Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment on school campuses while providing professional, customer-focused security services. This role requires strong situational awareness, professionalism, and the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, staff, and the public.

Key Duties & Responsibilitie s

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, parents, and visitors
• Provide general security services in accordance with client requirements and DSI post orders
• Remain visible to deter unacceptable behavior and promote campus safety
• Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations, including fights, medical incidents, or other security concerns
• Observe, correct, and report hazards, incidents, and suspicious activity
• Interact professionally with students, parents, staff, visitors, and members of the public
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other security personnel
• Remain at assigned post until properly relieved
• Complete required reports and documentation accurately and timely
• Comply with DSI and client policies, post instructions, and Code of Ethics
• Participate in required training and ongoing security education
• Present a professional appearance and conduct at all times

Qualifications & Position Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid State of Florida Class D Security License (required)
• Valid driver’s license

• Preferred: 5 years of experience in security or law enforcement (experience working with children or youth strongly preferred)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform routine foot patrols, mobile patrols, moderate lifting, and work in all weather conditions
• Must pass all required background checks and drug screenings
