Job summary

Howard County Public School System in Maryland seeks a Food and Nutrition Service Assistant II at Reservoir High School to support meal preparation and serving, and to operate the cafeteria POS system. The role includes cashier duties and ensuring compliance with USDA meal programs.

The position is a 10-month assignment within the School Nutrition program. Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED and 6 months to 1 year of school food service experience, with physical ability

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.
One year of experience in food service within a PreK-12 school cafeteria.
6 months of experience in food service.

Responsibilities

Prepares main dishes, vegetables, salad-based items, sandwiches and other foods and beverages served in the cafeteria.
Sets up hot and cold food counters for serving and properly stocks counters and carts with food, plates, utensils, and condiments.
Serves food and beverages to students and adults; identifies and serves a reimbursable meal as defined by USDA child nutrition program.
May function as cashier, receive money, and operate cafeteria point-of-sale register and maintain cash totals.
Cleans utensils, equipment, and the storage, food preparation, and serving areas to maintain sanitary conditions.
Assist in receiving and storage of food, equipment, and supplies; stock and secure items; deliver meals to classrooms.
