Job summary

Berryville School District in Berryville, AR is hiring a Food Service Assistant to support daily meal service in the cafeteria. This 7 hours per day, full-time role works under the Food Service Manager to prepare and portion foods, maintain HACCP standards, and ensure safe food handling.

You will read recipes, measure ingredients, and operate serving lines, with attention to temperature checks and sanitation.

Qualifications

• TB test is required.
• Food Handlers Certification required.
• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Accurately count, weigh, and measure.
• Follow instructions and take initiative.
• Physical ability to walk, stoop, stand, twist, and squat.
• Lift a minimum of 51 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Interact with students, staff, and visitors in a pleasant, professional manner.
• Portion foods into appropriate quantities per recipe or instructions.
• Assist with food preparation using prescribed techniques.
• Wash pots, pans, and other items using dish machine or sink.
• Set up serving line and place appropriate utensils.
• Monitor food temperatures and report unsafe temps to the manager.
• Serve food per recipe portions or instructions.
• Disassemble serving line and clean serving area.
• Discard or store leftovers properly.
• Follow HACCP guidelines.
