Job summary

Houston County School System is seeking a Food Service Cook to assist in implementing the school meal program and to prepare and serve meals to students, staff, and clients in a cafeteria setting.

The role requires following HACCP standards, maintaining clean and safe facilities, operating kitchen equipment, and assisting with inventory and service lines. Candidates should be able to stand for long periods and lift items up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the care and preparation of food.
• Knowledge of policies/procedures pertaining to food service programs.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics and measuring conversions.
• Knowledge of the safe and sanitary operation of kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the assigned school meal program.
• Plan, prepare, cook, and serve meals to students, clients, and staff.
• Follow the HACCP guidelines and monitor temperatures.
• Operate, maintain and clean kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of cafeteria areas; discard leftover food as required.
• Assist with receiving items and inspect freshness and quantity.
