Job summary

Volusia County Schools is seeking a SWC Assistant on Assignment to support meal preparation and service for students. The role involves six hours per day over a nine-month period, with responsibilities spanning from washing and prepping produce to serving meals and maintaining sanitation standards.

You will also assist with inventory, equipment operation, and lightweight bookkeeping as part of a team, following district food safety guidelines and uniform requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read/write at functional level.
• Completion of Foundations, an Introduction to Volusia School Way Café and ServSafe Essentials during first year.
• Possess a valid Florida or state driver's license; willing to obtain Florida license if needed.

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, and prepare fruits/vegetables; prepare salads, entrées, and beverages with sanitation records.
• Prepare breads, desserts, and baked goods; ensure sanitation records are maintained.
• Set up trays, steam tables, and serve food on cafeteria line for routine and special meals.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
• Perform inventory checks and assist with stock storage and reporting.
• Work as part of a team and operate cash register when required.
