Job summary

The Learning Lamp is hiring a Cafeteria Aide to work with students in the Central Cambria School District. The cafeteria aide monitors student behavior during meal service and assists with the cleanliness and flow of meals.

Hours are based on school district schedules. The role offers a collaborative, supportive environment with training and development opportunities, and part-time benefits such as paid time off, retirement savings (403(b) option), discount programs, tuition discounts, and more.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is the minimum education requirement.
• Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including mandated reporter training, physical, and TB test.
• Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
• Previous experience working with individuals with special needs or disabilities is preferred.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with diverse needs.
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively with a team, and adapt to changing situations.
• Understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements related to student information.

Responsibilities

• Manage students during meal service (behavior problems should be referred to the teacher or principal according to guidelines established by each school site)
• Communicate with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills
• Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eaten, assisting students who need help
• Assist with the cleanliness of the cafeteria/lunch rooms
• Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time
• Encourage good table manners
• Other duties as assigned
