Job summary

Stockton Unified School District is seeking a School Bus Driver Specialist to assist in planning, scheduling and dispatching bus runs ensuring safe and efficient pupil transportation.

The role may substitute for a school bus driver, maintain records, and coordinate field trips. Strong knowledge of bus operations and California transportation regulations is required; helper to supervisors and drivers; medical clearance and a valid CA Class B license with P endorsement are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from the twelfth grade.
• Two (2) years experience as a school bus driver.
• Possession of a valid California Class B Driver's license with Passenger endorsement; Class A with a P endorsement acceptable; California School Bus Driver's Certificate; and a valid medical certificate.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily bus routes are covered and drivers assigned as needed.
• Assign substitute drivers and routes if necessary.
• Book and estimate cost for field trips.
• Maintain accurate transportation records.
• Assist in providing training at school sites for bus evacuation drills.
• Assist in planning fall bus routes to accommodate student population changes.
