Job summary

Onslow County Public Schools Transportation in Jacksonville, North Carolina, seeks a Transportation Mechanic II to maintain and repair school buses and other district vehicles. The role reports to the Transportation Director and is open until filled.

Qualifications

• Experience with school bus and vehicle operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of diesel engine repair.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses minor and common mechanical problems.
• Adjusts timing mechanisms and replacement of plugs/valves.
• Rotates, aligns, and balances wheels.
• Installs shock absorbers and suspension components.
• Repairs and replaces damaged body parts.
• Tests electrical systems and repairs as needed.
• Repairs Diesel injection systems and ignition components.
• Performs regular preventive maintenance as required by NC standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
