Job summary

HILLSBORO R-III SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver to transport students safely on school routes and field trips, following district policies and safety rules.

The role requires a valid CDL Class B with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements, routine vehicle inspections, accurate log and report submissions, and the ability to communicate clearly with students, parents and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year related experience and/or training.
• Valid CDL Class B license with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
• Must be able to pass a yearly School Bus Physical.

Responsibilities

• Safely transports students to and from school and field trips on the approved route and times.
• Accurately records logs of bus inspections, mileage sheets, and field trips promptly.
• Reports mechanical issues with tires, brakes, lights, and safety equipment to the supervisor.
• Maintains clean, safe transportation by daily cleaning of the vehicles.
• Enforces safety rules and ensures student behavior is orderly during trips.
