Job summary

DATTCO in Cheshire, CT is hiring a School Bus Monitor for split AM/PM routes. The position offers an hourly rate of $18.50–$19 and opportunities to pick up additional hours with the manager. Weekends off and school holidays are typical; 401k with company match and referral bonuses are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings (criminal background checks, registry checks, drug testing, and any other screenings required by law, Connecticut DMV, school district policy, or DATTCO policy).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a reasonable level of good behavior by the children on the bus, minivan, van or car.
• Enforce school bus safety rules by ensuring students stay seated, do not harm themselves or others, do not eat on the bus, and follow safety regulations.
• Recognize dangerous situations affecting child safety and report to the bus driver immediately.
• Assist the driver in performing a post-trip check to ensure all children are off the vehicle.
• Assist in buckling children or safety equipment as outlined by safety laws.
• Assist in evacuating children during emergencies.
• Assist the driver with directions as defined by a pre-determined route sheet.
