Job summary

Ridgefield Park Public Schools is seeking a School Aide to assist the bus driver in providing safe transportation for students and staff, under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities.

Responsibilities include maintaining student conduct on the bus, assisting with boarding and alighting, and reporting violations to the principal. A High School Diploma or GED is required, NJ residency or waiver, and a background check are mandatory; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform assigned duties.
• Knowledge of bus passenger safety and effective discipline procedures.
• Current residency in New Jersey or approved residency waiver; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the bus driver in maintaining student conduct on the bus.
• Assists students getting on and off the bus and observes movements to ensure safety.
• Provides written records of violations to the building principal.
• Collects personal items left on the bus and returns them to the school secretary.
• Instructs students on passenger safety and ensures seat belts are worn when applicable.
• Participates in scheduled emergency bus exit drills.
• Ensures all passengers are dropped off at the correct location and none remain on the bus.
