Job summary

Little Elm ISD is seeking a Transportation Aide to support bus drivers by ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students during transport to school, field trips, and district activities.

The role requires assisting students, following safety protocols, and cooperating with school staff to communicate student needs and behavior concerns, including students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Experience working with children preferred.
• Special knowledge/skills: Ability to understand and follow written or verbal instructions; communicate effectively; operate safety/adaptive equipment; manage student behavior; work with children with disabilities; remain calm in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist students on and off the bus and lift/carry students with disabilities.
• Supervise students boarding, exiting, and crossing streets according to safety procedures.
• Escort students to their destination and instruct on safe entering/exiting and riding rules.
• Learn each student’s medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs and adapt accordingly.
• Manage student behavior and report discipline problems promptly to the administrator.
• Communicate with classroom aides, teachers, administrators and parents as appropriate.
