Job summary

Durham School Services is seeking a Bus Assistant to support Summit School Services in providing safe, reliable transportation for students. You will assist students with entering and exiting the bus, seat them securely, and monitor behavior to ensure safety during trips.

Pay rate is $20.00 per hour. Applicants must be at least 18, complete training, and maintain professionalism. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, holiday pay, PTO, and a retirement plan.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age; 19 for New York School Bus Assistants per state law.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements.
• Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training and attend safety meetings.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children.
• Maintain professionalism and diplomacy when interacting with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to lift and assist students when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with entering or exiting the bus in a safe manner.
• Seat students safely using seat belts, car seats or restraints; monitor conduct.
• Serve as a role model with a positive attitude and integrity.
• Assist Driver and keep interior of the vehicle clean and presentable.
• Complete required paperwork and report violations or concerns.
• Attend training, safety meetings, and in-service meetings.
