Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Bus Assistant to support the bus driver in safely transporting students of all ages, including those with disabilities. You will help supervise behavior, reinforce safe conduct, and assist with loading and unloading.

This role requires completing SECURE training, a criminal background check, CPR/First Aid, and a valid Washington driver's license. You must be reliable, flexible and able to work scheduled hours, ensuring a calm and safe bus

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Criminal background clearance.
• Completion of SECURE training.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid Washington State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and corrects student behavior in and around the bus for student safety.
• Instructs students in safe and responsible behavior on the bus.
• Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety.
• Know and apply procedures to assist medically fragile students.
• Assist students loading and unloading from the school bus, as needed.
• Operate wheelchair lift and secure wheelchair for safe transportation.
• Report unsafe acts or conditions to driver or supervisor.
• Practice effective safety and security within individual work routines.
