Job summary

District 196 is seeking part-time Chaperones for morning and afternoon shifts to supervise and assist students on buses, ensuring safe transit and orderly conduct.

You will help students with mobility, assist with loading/unloading, secure wheelchairs, and support seating. The role emphasizes safety, empathy, and positive role modeling in a diverse school community.

Experience with children from diverse backgrounds is preferred; high school diploma or GED required; training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or GED.
• Available mornings and afternoons.
• Enjoy working with children.
• Demonstrates and role models positive, safe and responsible behavior.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and assists students in transit or crossing streets.
• Moves or assists students whose mobility is impaired by their special needs.
• Facilitates the loading and unloading process, including assisting with wheelchair students and securing wheelchairs.
• Assist students into car seats and booster seats, buckling seatbelts as needed.
• Monitors and assists students to ensure comfort, safety and orderly conduct on bus.
