Job summary

Newport Independent Schools in Kentucky is seeking a professional School Bus Driver to operate designated routes, transport students to and from school, and ensure on-time performance.

You will perform daily inspections, assist loading and unloading of handicapped students, maintain records, and work with the Director of Transportation on driver evaluations. A valid KY CDL with passenger endorsement is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or progress toward GED as required by Kentucky law.
• One year experience operating a motor vehicle is preferred.
• Valid Kentucky CDL with passenger endorsement and School Bus Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Drive a school bus on designated routes according to time schedules and laws.
• Pick up/discharge students at bus stops and report safety incidents.
• Maintain bus safety via daily inspections and routine maintenance.
• Maintain order among students and interact with parents and school officials.
• Perform emergency evacuation drills and assist loading/unloading handicapped students.
• Keep records of maintenance, miles driven, and student transportation; assist with reports.
• Attend safety meetings and use two-way radio for communication.
• Provide first aid per established guidelines and perform related duties.
