Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of vehicle operation experience, a valid Kentucky Class B CDL with passenger endorsement, a School Bus Driver Certificate, and the ability to pass a driving record check.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of motor vehicle operation experience is required.
  • Valid Kentucky Class B CDL with passenger endorsement is required.
  • School Bus Driver Certificate required; must pass driving record check.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the school bus in accordance with all laws, rules and regulations of the State Board of Education and the LaRue County Public Schools.
  • Observes the schedule and routes provided by transportation services.
  • Reports to the area coordinator when unable to drive to allow substitute assignment.
  • Demonstrates acceptable student management techniques and reports concerns to principals.
  • Reports accidents/injuries to transportation offices and submits required reports.
  • Conducts emergency bus evacuation drills as required.
  • Maintains effective communication with parents, students, and district personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Area Coordinator.
