West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking a dedicated SVC2794 Bus Operator for the Coal City/Independence area to support Raleigh County students. The role requires performing inspections, learning routes, and ensuring safe student transport.

This position follows a school schedule: Monday through Friday, morning and afternoon shifts, with overtime as needed; it emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and clear communication with students, parents, and school officials.

Qualifications

• Responsibilities include pre/post trip inspections and route learning.
• Must assist and supervise students with disabilities and communicate with stakeholders.
• Complete proper paperwork and maintain bus cleanliness.
• Willingness to work overtime and tolerate ill students when needed.
• Capable of walking to rear of the bus and handling routine maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre/post trip inspections.
• Learn route, including pick up and drop off locations.
• Safely use fire extinguisher.
• Assist and supervise students with disabilities.
• Communicate with students, parents, school officials and supervisors.
• Mop and clean inside and outside the vehicle.
• Complete proper paperwork.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to tolerate ill children and clean up from student sickness accidents.
• Walk from the operator's seat to the rear of the bus.
• Install snow chains on a bus.
• Raise the hood of a conventional school bus and check oil levels and antifreeze levels.
• Remove obstructions from wind shield and under wiper blades.
