Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must meet WV Code 18-4-8c or hold an appropriate classification title.
• Ability to carry out responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

• Learn West Virginia Transportation Regulations for school bus operators.
• Post regulations and bus schedule in the bus.
• Pass required physical and driving tests.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections.
• Prepare and maintain a student rider list.
• Discharge students only at designated stops unless approved.
• Allow unassigned riders only with principal or parent approval.
• Operate on a regular schedule and report delays.
• Keep self neat and clean.
• Ensure all children are loaded before leaving the school.
• Clean bus inside and out as directed.
• Do not extend body parts from bus windows.
• Practice emergency unloading at least twice yearly.
• Do not leave bus with motor running; set brakes when departing.
• Prohibit smoking on school buses at all times.
• Complete first aid course successfully.
• Ensure emergency equipment is on board and in good condition.
• Submit required reports on time.
• Follow Morgan County Discipline Policy.
• Be available for emergency closings.
• Report accidents or damage immediately to the supervisor.
• Report needed repairs to the mechanic.
• Follow railroad crossing procedures.
• Maintain positive work habits and work efficiently.
• Maintain and upgrade skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
