Job summary

Guilderland Central School District is seeking School Bus Monitors to help keep students safe during transportation. You will assist the bus driver, monitor behavior, and support students with special needs on the bus, ensuring a calm and orderly ride.

This position follows the school calendar with guaranteed hours and benefits such as medical, dental, vision insurance, retirement and paid holidays. Availability for split shifts and reliable attendance are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 19
• Must complete a pre-employment background check
• Must complete a physical performance test
• Must complete required training
• Good attendance and reliability
• Ability to work with children

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver in maintaining a safe and orderly environment on the bus
• Monitor student behavior and enforce bus rules to ensure a respectful and peaceful atmosphere
• Provide support to students with special needs, including assisting with seating arrangements and securing mobility devices
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding any concerns or incidents that may arise during the bus ride
• Collaborate with the bus driver to address any emergency situations or medical needs that may occur during transportation
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and behavior incidents for reporting purposes
