Job summary

A family-owned school transportation company is seeking a part-time School Bus Monitor in Harrisville, RI. This role is key in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their commutes. Duties include monitoring behavior on the bus, enforcing safety rules, assisting with inspections, and helping with evacuations in emergency situations. No experience is required as personalized training is provided. The position offers flexible hours with no long-distance trips, allowing employees to be home every night.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years or older.
• Pass a background check and a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a reasonable level of good behavior by the children on the bus.
• Enforce school bus safety rules effectively.
• Recognize and report dangerous situations to the driver.
• Assist the driver with a spot inspection at the end of each run.
• Assist in buckling children and other safety equipment.
• Help evacuate children during emergencies.
• Assist the driver with directions as per the route sheet.

Position Responsibilities:

• Maintain a reasonable level of good behavior by the children on the bus, minivan, van or car.
• Effectively enforce school bus safety rules by making sure students remain in their seats, do not harm themselves or other students, do not eat on the bus or violate other safety regulations.
• Recognize dangerous situations that would affect the safety of the children and report to the bus driver immediately.
• After the end of each school run, assist the driver in performing a spot inspection to make sure all children are off the bus.
• Assist in the buckling of children, or other safety equipment, as outlined by safety laws.
• Assist in the evacuation of children off the vehicle during emergency situations.
• Assist the driver with directions as defined by a pre-determined route sheet.

Position Requirements:

• 16+ years old.
