Job summary

Beacon Mobility is hiring for a school transportation role in Western Massachusetts, supporting students during pickup and drop-off. You will assist students in and out of vehicles, ensure seat belts are fastened, and help with seating requirements for children with special needs.

Role requires clear English communication and adherence to safety protocols. The position emphasizes teamwork, following supervisor instructions, and dependable performance in a school setting, with ongoing training

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in English with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
• Must have the physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
• Must be willing to work effectively with school age children with special needs.
• Must follow written and verbal directions from supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Safely assist students entering and exiting the vehicle and use seat belts.
• Monitor student behavior and provide guidance as needed.
• Report unsafe or inappropriate behavior to management and follow corrective steps.
• Communicate effectively in English with students, parents, teachers, and staff.
• Operate Van Pool's two-way radio system to coordinate with team.
• Assist with installing car seats and booster seats as required.

• Split Shifts- 5:30am-9:00am & 1:00pm-5:00pm (example only, exact hours depend on assigned route)

What You’ll Be doing

Safely assist students as needed. This includes helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats and booster seats. Lifting may be required. Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction when necessary.

• Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps as assigned.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in (English) with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
• Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using Van Pool’s two-way radio system.
• Must have the physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
• Must demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school age children with special needs.
