Job summary

DATTCO in Bristol, CT is hiring a School Bus Monitor to help ensure student safety on bus routes AM and PM. This position offers flexible hours with opportunities to pick up additional shifts through the dispatcher and is ideal for those seeking part-time work with weekends and school holidays off.

You will assist the driver, manage student behavior, enforce safety rules, help with boarding and emergency evacuations, and complete pre-employment screenings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18+ years old.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including background checks and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a reasonable level of good behavior by the children on the bus, minivan, van or car.
• Effectively enforce school bus safety rules by ensuring students remain seated and follow safety regulations.
• Recognize dangerous situations and report to the bus driver immediately.
• Assist the driver in a post-run check to ensure all children are off the bus.
• Assist in buckling children or safety equipment as outlined by safety laws.
• Assist in evacuations of children during emergencies.
• Assist the driver with directions as defined by a pre-determined route sheet.

We are hiring a School Bus Monitor at our location in Bristol, CT!

• Hourly Rate: $20.75/hr
• Hours:
  • Split shifts for school bus routes AM and PM.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a reasonable level of good behavior by the children on the bus, minivan, van or car.
• Effectively enforce school bus safety rules by making sure students remain in their seats, do not harm themselves or other students, do not eat on the bus or violate other safety regulations.
• Recognize dangerous situations that would affect the safety of the children and report to the bus driver immediately.
• After the end of each school run, assist the driver in performing a spot inspection to make sure all children are off the bus.
• Assist in the buckling of children, or other safety equipment, as outlined by safety laws.
• Assist in the evacuation of children off the vehicle during emergency situations.
• Assist the driver with directions as defined by a pre-determined route sheet.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18+ years old.
• Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screening, including state and national criminal background checks, registry checks, drug testing, and any other screenings required by law, Connecticut DMV, school district policy, or DATTCO policy.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to enter and exit the vehicle repeatedly and perform required vehicle inspections.
• Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and use vehicle safety equipment.
• Ability to assist passengers during boarding, exiting, and emergency evacuations.
