Job summary

Blue Bird Bus Sales of Pittsburgh is seeking skilled mechanics to perform warranty, service, and maintenance work on buses, trucks, and other motor vehicles. A State Inspection License is required or CDL training may be provided.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnostics, part replacement, and test drives to ensure safe operation. A high school diploma and relevant training or experience are preferred, with tools supplied by the employee.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational/technical training or apprenticeship in auto repair preferred.
• Two years related experience preferred.
• Willing to train for CDL where needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintains vehicles including fleet cars, trucks, and other motor vehicles.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance (oil changes, tune-ups).
• Tests parts and systems to ensure proper function.
• Identifies mechanical problems visually or with diagnostics.
• Examines critical parts using a standard checklist.
• Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems (brakes, belts, water pumps, transmissions).
• Plans and schedules repairs and maintenance timelines.
• Test drives vehicles to ensure safe operation.

Mechanics will perform warranty, service and maintenance work for busses, trucks, and other motor vehicles. Must have State Inspection License.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintains vehicles, which may include company’s fleet of cars, trucks, heavy equipment, busses, and other motor vehicles
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups
• Performs tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper function
• Identifies mechanical problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment
• Examines critical parts and systems using a standard checklist
• Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts
• Plans and establishes timetable to complete repairs and maintenance
• Test drives vehicle to confirm safe and proper operation

What you need to succeed:

• Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair
• Excellent mechanical repair skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read service and repair manuals
• Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment, hydraulics, and software

Education/ Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in auto repair or related field preferred
• Two years of related experience preferred
• Commerical driver’s license may be required. *Willing to train for C.D.L.

Required:

• You must supply your own general hand tools
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and safety inspections
• Must be able to life 50 pounds at times
