Job summary

Summit School Services LLC seeks a Fleet Technician I to maintain and repair our school bus fleet. You will diagnose advanced systems, perform inspections, and ensure dependable operation across the Summit fleet.

You will work with the Lead Technician and Maintenance Supervisor, applying safety standards and meticulous record-keeping to document hours, parts, and repairs while contributing to reliable student transportation.

Qualifications

• Five years of medium/heavy truck fleet repair experience
• Experience verifiable by prior employer or documentation
• Knowledge of diagnostic equipment for mechanical, electrical, and A/C issues
• Advanced knowledge of major vehicle components in diesel/gas equipment
• Minimum hand tools for a diesel technician
• Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making
• High school diploma or equivalent; English literacy; CDL preferred

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automotive and diesel systems per skill level
• Perform engine adjustments, rebuilds, and test drives
• Complete safety inspections and sign-offs before releasing vehicles
• Maintain safe, organized, compliant workspace per standards
• Identify and report complex issues needing advanced support
• Log labor hours, parts used, and work in maintenance system
• Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or abuse
• Respond to road calls and mobile repairs when needed
• Demonstrate professionalism and teamwork
• Other duties as assigned
