Job summary

Westmoreland County Public Schools Division Wide - Montross, Virginia is seeking a Full Time Mechanic to join our Transportation Team. The position involves repairing buses, cars, trucks, and turf equipment, with a focus on preventive maintenance and safe operation of all district equipment.

The ideal candidate will hold a CDL license, have strong mechanical skills, and be able to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly while working in a shop environment.

Qualifications

• CDL driver's license required.
• 5 years experience in automotive repair preferred.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds repeatedly and to turn, twist, and bend as required to operate equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates all District equipment in a safe manner.
• Repairs of a wide range of District equipment: buses, cars, trucks, trailers, snow removal apparatus and tools, turf machinery, and miscellaneous school property.
• Establishes an efficient, effective system of routine and preventative maintenance on all equipment.
• Maintains safe and clean work environment, including acceptable storage methods for combustibles.
