Job description

The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an employment opportunity with our Agency. We are looking for a reliable and responsible candidate to fill a School Bus Driver position. This position is located in Ogden. Travel is required between all USDB campuses.

*Working schedule: Hours vary, works as needed basis dependent upon field trip schedule, nine months during the school year (181 days)*

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Drives a school bus exceeding 26,000 pounds GVW and operates related equipment to transport students with disabilities (deaf/hard-of-hearing, blind/visually impaired, developmentally disabled, etc.) affiliated with the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind to various off-campus events and activities;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

The model candidate for this position is someone who:

  • Has or is willing to obtain before the official start date a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with School Bus and Passenger Endorsements, air brake training.
  • Has a clean driving record.
  • Can run, maneuver, navigate, and drive a school bus.
  • Has knowledge of school bus operation, routing, and safety.
  • Understands traffic control and safety procedures; applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies and procedures.
  • Successfully completes a criminal background check.
