Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego is seeking a School Bus Driver to safely operate a school bus on a set schedule, perform pre/post inspections, and ensure student safety. You will interact with youth, staff, and families, maintain discipline, and report issues in a courteous manner.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3 years driving experience, a valid California CDL with endorsements, First Aid/CPR, and clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with a High School diploma or GED
• Three (3) years of driving experience
• Possession of a valid California CDL or CDL(B) with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements
• First Aid and CPR Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
• DMV H6 printout for safe driving record
• Ability to operate school bus safely and read route sheets
• Strong communication in English and basic math/writing for logs
• Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse populations
• Prefer experience as school bus or heavy-duty driver

Responsibilities

• Transport children, parents, and staff by driving a school bus or passenger van according to a daily schedule
• Maintain safety of BGCGSD fleet and check vehicle operations regularly
• Communicate with administration and transportation Coordinator daily
• Set a positive example and maintain punctual attendance
• Instruct and manage student loading/unloading and safety rules
• Interact with members, parents, staff, and public professionally
• Record complaints and report issues courteously and promptly
• Enforce safety and transportation guidelines per state and club policies
• Complete daily inspections and coordinate vehicle maintenance
