Job summary

Texas City Independent School District Transportation in Texas City, TX is seeking a part-time bus driver to operate school buses for student transportation on assigned routes. Starting date is immediate, with a wage of $21.85 per hour, and must maintain safety certifications.

Responsibilities include pre/post-trip inspections, safety compliance, student management, and coordination with the transportation office. CDL with P&S endorsements required and eligibility for DOT tests.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam.
• Ability to complete required bus driver safety training.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to use maps and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to follow routes and locate addresses.
• Ability to manage student behavior.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to operate bus.

Responsibilities

• Drive bus daily following assigned route and schedules.
• Transport students to and from extracurricular activities.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and notify supervisor of repairs.
• Report accidents, damages, injuries, and mechanical problems.
• Instruct students on safe entering/exiting and passenger rules.
• Maintain discipline and communicate with teachers and parents about behavior.
• Observe traffic laws and safety procedures for school buses.
• Operate two-way radio and complete records on mileage, fuel, and passengers.
