Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking a Bus Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation for students and staff on designated routes. The role requires adherence to schedules, safety protocols, and professional conduct during all operations.

The position involves conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining a clean bus, and ensuring student safety and discipline while on board. Training and compliance with state regulations are essential.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a valid Alabama bus driver license (ABL) and commercial driver’s license (CDL) with P/S endorsement.
• Maintain a current Alabama School Bus Physical or ALDOT Health Card as required by state law or the Alabama State Department of Education.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
• Possess and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record and insurability under school system insurance requirements.
• Ability to pass drug test in accordance with applicable law.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
• Operate a school vehicle over an assigned route according to a defined time schedule; may drive during pre-daylight/dusk.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to traffic laws and driving safety rules.
• Pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
• Maintain a clean bus and orderly student conduct aboard.
• Picks up and discharges students at authorized stops on schedule.
• Report accidents immediately and follow transportation procedures.
• Assist students during evacuations and field trips as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality of school/workplace information as required by law.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
