Job summary

Kanawha County Public Schools is seeking a Bus Operator to provide safe and timely transportation for students, maintaining an orderly bus environment while reporting misconduct or mechanical issues to the supervisor.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, a clean driving record, the ability to lift and assist students, a WV background check, and completion of the WV School Bus Safety Program.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent as required.
• Criminal background check required.
• Must have a valid CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Must have a good driving record.
• Must be 21 years of age with at least three years driving experience.
• Must complete WV School Bus Safety Program and pass tests.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre/post trip inspections.
• Learns route including pickup and drop-off locations.
• Safely assists and supervises students with disabilities.
• Communicates with students, parents, school officials, and supervisors.
• Transports students daily and prepares the bus for safe operation.
