Job summary

Herscher Unit 2 District-Wide in Herscher, Illinois seeks dedicated school bus drivers for regular routes, subbing, and extra trips. The role offers a full-time, school-year position with a pay rate of $25.54 per hour and a strong onboarding incentive program.

You will transport students safely, comply with traffic laws, monitor communications, and maintain orderly conduct on the bus. Training/licensure and annual requirements are required, with opportunities for advancement through the program.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be able to obtain a School Bus CDL (commercial driver's license) by completing fingerprints, physical and drug screening.
• Must participate in mandatory random drug testing.
• Must attend required courses of instruction for school bus drivers.
• Must complete annual requirements to retain Bus Driver’s Permit.
• Must possess good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely transportation for district students.
• Obey all traffic laws and school bus safety regulations.
• Monitor the FM radio and respond to calls promptly.
• Establish and maintain discipline policies on the bus.
• Keep bus clean and maintain schedule adherence.
• Report accidents and complete required reports with urgency.
• Transport only authorized students and maintain passenger lists.
