Alamance-Burlington School System is seeking bus drivers for the 2026-2027 school year to operate routes in Burlington, NC. The job emphasizes safety, pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and reliable attendance to support student transportation services.

Starting immediately, successful applicants will hold a valid North Carolina CDL with school bus certification and meet the district's training requirements; prior experience preferred, with a focus on safety and student management.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and some experience driving large vehicles with some experience in transporting humans preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Responsabilités

• Performs required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and documents inspections as required by Transportation Department Operating Instructions for bus drivers.
• Reports mechanical defects or failures to the Zone Transportation Supervisor, the Zone Routing Specialist, the on‑duty mechanic, or the bus garage control center.
• Operates the assigned school bus on the route(s) and schedule provided by the Zone Transportation Supervisor.
• Reports to the Zone Transportation Supervisor any changes in route or schedule after being directed by the school principal.
• Obeys all traffic laws and school bus regulations while operating the school bus.
• Observes all safety regulations and standards for school buses and evacuates students quickly in emergencies.
