Job summary

Spring Branch Independent School District in Houston, TX, seeks a Transportation Non CDL Bus Driver to ensure safe, orderly student transportation on assigned routes. You will operate small school buses or MPVs, adhere to schedules, perform pre/post trip inspections and coordinate with the transportation team.

Qualifications

• Maintain a valid Texas driver’s license (Class C).
• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas DPS and SBISD.
• Complete and pass the Texas School Bus Driver’s Course.
• Eligible for coverage under the district’s vehicle insurance program.
• Maintain certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
• Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities.
• Check bus for mechanical defects before and after operation and report repairs.
• Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures.
• Keep assigned bus clean and fueled.
• Supervise students boarding and leaving the bus and cross the street.
• Communicate with teachers and parents regarding student behavior.
• Maintain discipline and report problems to the administrator.
• Instruct students on safe riding rules and maintain personal conduct.
• Observe traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
• Inspect bus, ensure safety equipment is present, and report hazards.
• Operate two-way radio equipment to communicate with transportation office.
• Work irregular hours as needed.
• Attend required training to maintain safety certification.
• Keep mileage, fuel usage, and passenger records.
