Job summary

The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Bus Driver. The preferred schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 3:30PM, with entry-level wage noted. The position emphasizes safe, daily transportation of children and parent volunteers.

Required qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, a Class B CA driver license with passenger endorsement, a school bus certificate, and CPR/First Aid. Indian preference applies. A pre-employment drug screen and TB test are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a current Class B, California Drivers License with passenger endorsement.
• Must have and maintain clear DMV printout, current T-01, 02, DL-51 (medical). Must have Special Drivers certificate (school bus).
• Minimum of 3 years driving a bus with an excellent safety record.
• CPR and First Aid certification bi-annually renewed.
• Must pass physical examination, including tuberculosis screening, on initial hire and annually thereafter.
• Must be fingerprinted and pass background check.
• Indian preference.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper bus driver license and certification.
• Maintain transportation records as assigned.
• Ensure safe transportation of each child and supervise drop-off/pick-up points for safety.
• Demonstrate genuine care for children under care.
• Ensure child safety at all times.
• Foster positive, professional relationships with parents and caregivers.
• Educate parents on transportation rules and secure parent cooperation.
• Participate in meetings, events, staff days and field trips.
• Maintain confidentiality per agency policy and legal requirements.
• Follow safety rules, emergency procedures and policies.
• As a mandated reporter, report suspected child abuse.
• Model positive interactions with children, parents and staff within NAEYC guidelines.
• Follow the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct in all interactions.
• Acknowledge Native American cultural values (Wintu/Pit River/Yana).
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to program planning and changes.
• Maintain buses with daily safety checks and cleanliness.
