Job summary

Drivergent Transportation is seeking a dedicated School Bus Driver to safely transport students and ensure routes are operated on time. You will uphold safety, manage students calmly, and communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and administrators.

The role requires a valid CDL (Class A or B) with endorsements, ability to pass CE classes, and a high school diploma or GED. Work environment includes varying weather and student needs, with comprehensive benefits and retirement

Qualifications

As a School Bus Driver for Drivergent Transportation, you will safely transport students, exceed customer expectations, and ensure routes are operated on time. Successful drivers put safety first, are reliable and work in challenging and busy environments. We support our customers by understanding their needs and creating solutions to ensure their students and families are transported safely.Job ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the safe and reliable transportation of students; including all duties connected to operating a school bus per all applicable client district policies & state/federal lawsAbility to manage and maintain all students on the bus in a calm and safe mannerConduct all pre-trip and post-trip inspections as requiredReport to duty on time and maintain route on time and in a safe mannerPhysically assist passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergencyInform all appropriate personnel of problems/procedures/incidentsComplete all required paperwork (including route change sheets, timecards, vehicle repair requests)Keep the interior of the assigned vehicle clean and presentablePresent a neat and professional personal appearance at all timesMaintain a professional attitude with parents, students, other staff members, fellow employees, supervisors, customers, and passengersSafely and efficiently utilizes vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lifts, radios and emergency equipmentPosition RequirementsAbility to take and pass Continuing Education ClassAble to understand and have empathy for children and persons with disabilityExtensive knowledge of traffic rules and regulationsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to operate and navigate a full-size or special-need school busAbility to effectively operate a GPSAbility to work outside in various climates and weather conditionsMust be reliable, and capable of working a flexible scheduleMust practice defensive driving at all times to avoid vehicular and industrial accidentsProficient in English sufficient enough to read road signs and communicate with personnelMinimum RequirementsCertifications/LicensesRESAClass A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)Passenger, School Bus, and Air Brake EndorsementsMichigan State Education CardAge: Minimum 21 years of ageEducation: High School Diploma or GED RequiredWork Experience: 1+ Years; 3+ years preferredCompensation and Benefits$23.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience6-hour workday guaranteePaid Time Off (PTO)Health Benefits - Medical, Dental and VisionAflac Supplemental401k Retirement with company-match
