Job summary

Avoca Central School District is seeking a Bus Driver to safely transport students to and from school, activities, and events in Avoca, NY. The role follows NYSDOT regulations and district policies, with supervision from the Transportation Supervisor/Head Bus Driver.

The driver must hold a valid CDL with appropriate endorsements, meet NY state requirements, and have a minimum of two years of licensed driving experience on public roadways. Training is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of school bus operation and safety procedures.
• Ability to safely operate a bus in varied weather and road conditions.
• Strong communication with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus safely on regularly assigned routes and special trips.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure proper operating condition.
• Report mechanical defects, maintenance concerns, or safety issues promptly to supervisor.
• Assist students in safely boarding and exiting the bus.
• Maintain orderly student behavior and enforce transportation rules.
• Follow all state laws and district safety procedures for student transportation.
