STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The School Bus Driver operates a school bus on assigned routes, transporting students to and from school and on field trips. Responsibilities include supervising students, ensuring their safety, performing vehicle maintenance checks, and maintaining cleanliness of the bus. Additional duties may include transporting supplies and staff, and performing scheduled vehicle services.

INDIAN PREFERENCE POLICY:

Preference is given to qualified Indian candidates per the Indian Preference Act of 1934. Submit Form BIA-4432 with your application if claiming Indian Preference. Non-Indian candidates may be considered if no qualified Indian candidates apply.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED, and a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) meeting state and federal requirements. No recent DWI arrests or convictions. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

A valid CDL must be maintained; failure to do so will result in removal from the position. Incumbents are subject to drug testing, physical exams, and must be physically capable of lifting over 50 pounds, reading printed materials, and hearing conversational voice. Good vision, coordination, and mental stability are required. Travel may be necessary.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Applicants will be rated based on experience, training, and education. Complete and thorough submissions are essential.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • U.S. Citizenship required; proof needed.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification for Selective Service.
  • Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.
  • This position is not suitable for telework.
  • Position is covered by the bargaining unit of the Federation of Indian Service Employees, AFT Local 4521.
