Valparaiso Community Schools Bus Driver Position

Work Schedule: Part Time or Full Time available.

Reports to: Director or Assistant Director of Transportation.

Compensation: $20.00/hour.

Job Summary

Provide safe transportation for students, following traffic laws, safety regulations, and district policies.

Essential Duties

• Follow all traffic laws and safety policies.
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and report repairs.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules.
• Manage student behavior and report incidents.
• Maintain cleanliness and fueling of bus.
• Operate communication equipment professionally.
• Participate in drills and training.
• Report accidents and damages.
• Complete required reports and maintain professionalism.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Must be 21 or older.
• Valid CDL with school bus endorsements.
• DOT physical and Indiana School Bus Certification.
• Knowledge of local geography.
• Ability to work with children and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong communication skills and professionalism.
• Successful background checks and drug testing.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Tasks involve moderate physical activity, including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Work may expose you to environmental conditions like noise, weather, and traffic hazards. High concentration is required.
