LOCATION OF POSITION: Fairport NY 14450; Transportation Department
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time; 12 Month Position
STARTING DATE:September 2026
SALARY RANGE: $20.00 - $26.50
*Actual Salary Is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Contract.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The School Bus Dispatcher works under the general supervision of the Transportation Director and is the key position in the coordination and direction of a fleet of school buses which may include the following duties:

1. Assign Substitute Bus Drivers and Bus Attendants.
2. Assist in safety meetings.
3. Dispatch vehicles according to schedule.
4. Ensure specialized transportation for students assigned to BOCES buses to and from home, shuttles, and field trips, etc.
5. Operate a two-way radio.
6. Substitute as a Bus Driver when a substitute is unavailable.
7. Substitute as a Bus Attendant when a substitute is unavailable.
8. Assist in the communication to proper personnel in emergency situations.
9. Answers telephones.
10. Maintain excellent communication and a professional rapport with all clients and staff.
11. Perform other duties as necessary.
12. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Civil Service eligibility as Bus Dispatcher: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus (1) year paid full time or its part time equivalent experience as a bus driver or clerical work in bus transportation activities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Depending upon assignment, possession of a current Class *B* or Class *C* Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a *P* (Passenger) endorsement and *S* (School Bus) endorsement, issued by the State of New York at the time of appointment, (must be twenty-one (21) years of age to be eligible to obtain required driver's license).

4. Familiar with FCC radio codes.
