Job summary

DATTCO, INC in East Hartford, CT is hiring a full-time Automotive/Diesel Mechanic for our School Bus Fleet Maintenance team. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical, diesel, electrical systems, and service brakes, tires, steering, suspension, and HVAC to keep buses safe and on schedule.

We offer paid training, career growth, and a family-oriented workplace. Starting pay ranges from $22 to $38.38 per hour, with overtime and on-call compensation; schedules generally 8-hour

Qualifications

• High school diploma, technical school or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• ASE certifications or willingness to work toward ASE certifications.
• Minimum of one year of experience in automotive, truck, diesel, or bus repair.
• Must have your own set of tools and equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and service inspections on school buses and fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, diesel, electrical, and drivability issues.
• Inspect and service brake systems, tires, steering, suspension, and transmissions.
• Respond to road calls and assist with mobile repairs to keep routes on time.
• Complete repair orders and paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Communicate repair needs and vehicle status to the supervisor.
• Maintain hand tools and use shop equipment safely.
