Job summary

100Hires, Inc. is seeking a skilled bus technician in Kankakee, IL to service gasoline and diesel buses. The role covers routine maintenance, diagnostics, and comprehensive repairs, including engine/transmission overhauls, brakes, HVAC, and accessibility systems.

You will perform DOT-compliant inspections and document time and materials for all work performed. Ideal candidates have medium-duty bus experience and IDOT regulation knowledge.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to diagnose faults and perform preventive maintenance.
• Experience with medium-duty buses is preferred.
• Knowledge of pupil transportation regulations and IDOT inspections.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• A/C Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair gasoline/diesel buses: routine maintenance, minor fixes, and complete vehicle service.
• Diagnose faults and run a disciplined preventive maintenance program.
• Perform engine and transmission overhauls (major/minor).
• Maintain/repair brakes, air compressors, fuel & ignition systems, HVAC, and wheelchair lifts.
• Service vehicle A/C systems and execute DOT-compliant inspections and repairs on school buses.
• Record time and materials for all work performed.
