Job summary

Rockland BOCES in West Nyack, NY is seeking a School Bus Attendant (FTE 1.0) to assist pupils on and off the bus and ensure safe arrival at stops.

You will support younger students crossing streets safely, provide special assistance as needed, maintain order on the bus, and respond calmly to conflicts. Strong communication and courteous, firm guidance are essential for this in-person, 10-month position.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalency diploma.
• Must be 19 years of age.
• Meet district and state regulations during probation.

School Bus Attendant (FTE 1.0)

Work Year: 10 months

Assists pupils on and off the school bus and sees that they get off at proper stops; Helps younger pupils to cross streets safely; Provides special assistance to pupils with special needs; Maintains order and prevents or intercedes in arguments or scuffles. Ability to understand and direct children courteously and firmly but tactfully. Ability to speak well and clearly.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma. Must be 19 years of age. Qualifications imposed by school districts, including those provided by Section 1229-d of the Vehicle and Traffic Law and regulations of the Commissioner of Education, are to be satisfied before or during the probationary period.
