Job summary

Fort Wayne Community Schools Transportation in Fort Wayne, Indiana seeks a Part-Time Bus Assistant to help ensure safe student transport on assigned buses. You will work under the Transportation Supervisor and bus drivers to support students during loading, unloading and travel.

Requirements include a High School Diploma and experience to perform duties. Compensation ranges from $15.51 to $18.53 per hour, with responsibilities spanning behavior monitoring, record-keeping, and addressing IEP/BIP

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience to perform assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist in loading/unloading students and securing seatbelts, wheelchairs, and devices. Use wheelchair lifts as needed.
• Monitor and maintain student behavior; explain and reinforce bus rules; report issues.
• Support students by answering questions and offering guidance, emotional support, and a friendly attitude.
• Maintain accurate records for students requiring additional attention during transport.
• Address special needs per each student’s IEP and BIP.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to meet specific needs of the school or unit.
