Job summary

West Deptford Township School District is seeking a School Bus Aide to support student safety on district transportation. The role requires interaction with children, ability to read and communicate in English, and maintaining a safe bus environment.

Starting immediately, the position is part-time with responsibilities including supervision, reporting issues, and assisting the bus driver as needed. A clear background check is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Must work well with children.

• Possess the ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Be in good physical health and able to perform tasks.
• Provide evidence of criminal history clearance for DOE background check.
• Provide employment history with disclosures regarding contact with children.
• Health evidence adequate to fulfill job functions with reasonable accommodation.
• Pass Mantoux Tuberculin Test as required.
• Meet other qualifications as determined by the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Reports discipline issues immediately to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Reports issues or concerns promptly to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Fulfills requirements set by the County Superintendent for School Bus Aides.
• Checks the bus after each run to ensure no materials or students are left.
• Completes training assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
• Assists the Bus Driver with student safety measures.
• Performs any other duties assigned by Transportation Supervisor.

Job Description

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma preferred

5. Be in good physical health and ability to perform tasks contained herein
6. Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education, in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
7. Provide information that includes current/former employers within the last twenty (20) years in which the employment involved direct contact with children; a written authorization that consents to current and former employers disclosing certain information; and a written statement as to whether the applicant has any employment history regarding child abuse and/or sexual misconduct in accordance with N.J.S.A.18A:6-7.6.
8. Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
9. Pass the State required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
10. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal: To maintain a safe environment for students on the school bus.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Maintains control of the students at all times to ensure their safety while on the bus.
• Reports any discipline issues immediately to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Immediately reports any issues or concerns to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Fulfills all requirements by the County Superintendent for School Bus Aides.
• Checks the bus after each run, both at the school and after the last stop to sure that no materials or students are left on the bus.

• Assists the Bus Driver with student safety measures and performs tasks assigned by the Bus Driver.
• Performs all other tasks or duties assigned by Transportation Supervisor in accordance with the Policies of the Board of Education.
