Job summary

WE Transport LLC is seeking a School Bus Monitor in Bridgeport, CT. You will safely assist students, help them board and exit the bus, and ensure proper use of seat belts and car seats. This role involves lifting, monitoring behavior, and reporting safety concerns to management.

The position offers paid classroom and on-the-job training, plus a 401(k) plan, dental, vision, and company-paid life insurance. Shifts run split, with roughly 20–25 hours per week, starting early morning and afternoon

Qualifications

• Age 18+.
• Ability to pass a background check, CORI/SORI, drug screen.
• Effectively communicate in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Safely assist students as needed, including helping them enter/exit the vehicle and using seat belts.
• Lifting may be required.
• Monitor student behavior and provide guidance as needed.
• Report unsafe or inappropriate behavior to management and implement corrective steps.
• Communicate clearly with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
• Demonstrate interpersonal communication while using Van Pool’s radio system.
• Install car seats and booster seats safely.
• Follow written and verbal directions from supervisors.
• Work with school-age children with special needs.

• Split Shifts- 5:30am-9:00am & 1:00pm-5:00pm (example only, exact hours depend on assigned route)

What You'll Be doing

• Safely assist students as needed. This includes helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats and booster seats.
• Lifting may be required.
• Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction when necessary.
• Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps as assigned.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in (English) with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
• Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using Van Pool’s two-way radio system.
• Must have the physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
• Must demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school age children with special needs.
