Job summary

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking motivated, compassionate Behavior Technicians to support students with behavioral challenges in a school-based setting. The role provides an excellent entry point into education, psychology, or behavioral health, with training and ongoing support available.

You will work one-on-one with students (ASD, ADHD, behavioral challenges), implement BIPs under guidance, and use positive behavior strategies to foster engagement and social-emotional development.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of pediatric experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification if applicable.
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• No prior certification required—training and ongoing support will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and behavioral challenges.
• Assist in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) under the guidance of teachers and specialists.
• Use positive behavior strategies such as reinforcement, redirection, and encouragement.
• Help students develop social skills, emotional regulation, and coping strategies.
• Support students in staying engaged and participating in classroom activities.
• Assist with transitions throughout the school day (classroom changes, lunch, recess, etc.).
• Track and document basic behavior observations and student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and behavioral support teams.
• Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
