Better Morning is seeking a School Based Therapist to deliver mental health services at a designated DC school site. You will conduct intake assessments, therapy (individual/family/group), and crisis intervention while coordinating with school staff to support student wellbeing.

You will maintain thorough documentation, develop and update treatment plans, and participate in supervision and team meetings to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

Better Morning emerged as an outpatient behavioral health practice in Ashburn, VA in the year of 2014.

In addition to providing counseling from the Ashburn office, Better Morning started off as a certified provider for intensive in home and community-based services (IHCBS), for at risk youth in District of Columbia.

In August of 2017, Better Morning was certified as a Core service agency (CSA) by DC Department of Behavioral Health. Better morning founder’s passion for at risk youth and their family were the motivation to keep expanding the evidenced based programs to meet the need of the underserved population.

Job Description

Role Requirements

The School Based Therapist is responsible for providing services related to the delivery of mental health care to assigned consumers at the designated school location in DC area and will provide consultation services to the school staff to support the overall mental health goals of the school.

Provides direct mental health services to include:

• Provides direct mental health services to include intake assessment, individual/family/group therapy, and crisis intervention to assigned clients.
• Collects information about consumers through interviews, tests, and evaluation of day‑to‑day functioning within work, family and other routines.
• Identifying areas needing continued support, resources and treatment in order to assist consumers.
• Completes master treatment plans, treatment plan updates, managed care authorizations and all chart requirements.
• Preparing and completing diagnostic and bio‑psychological assessments, clinical notes, referrals, treatment plans of clients as appropriate.
• Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and clinical supervision.
• Maintains confidentiality of records relating to consumers’ treatment.
• Provides therapy; maintains assigned caseload.
• Works with Clinical Managers and other multi‑disciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans/assessment for clients.
• Creates appropriate case management notes and input into systems as needed.
• Provides complete and timely documentation to support services rendered.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work
• LGSW/LGPC- Required
• 1-3 years Mental Health experience.
• Must possess a strong knowledge of common diagnoses and treatments for school-aged children and possess the skills necessary to facilitate positive change in a school environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent problem‑solving skills
• Demonstrate exceptional time management organizational skills

Additional Information

Full-time (40 hours) (8 hours shift)

Salary: $70,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year. The salary range differs based on the number of relevant work experience and educational level. In addition, we offer the below Employment Benefits:
